All the Presidents

In the fall of 1996, after two years of steady work, All the Presidents was completed. It consisted of 54 paintings in various media, a voting booth, and an interactive web site. It opened in Los Angeles at Sherry Frumkin Gallery in Bergamot Station and continued to travel for years to various Presidential Libraries and other museums.

All the Presidents owes its origins to a camping trip in the California desert, where some artist friends and Mion had gone for a few days respite from the city. Mion brought along a deck of cards assuming they might play poker. It happened to be a deck produced by the Smithsonian Institution, with all the official portraits of the Presidents and other historical figures and a railroad spike. Read more...
